A foretaste of spring.

Description

Spring still seemed bleak and lifeless, devoid of greenery, but generously seasoned with mud and decayed last year’s leaves. And only these strange suppers on the slope of the diminishing day gave her the opportunity to experience the taste of the awakened nature.
She watched the sleepy sunset in the dust and put old silver cutlery on a wooden table gnawed by time; she ate delicate indoor flowering plants, along with dry insects (which once died from fear of the first snowfalls and cold winds). The meltwater was dozing in small bottles of colored glass and in the teapot. And time stood still, fascinated by this strange ritual of a foretaste of spring.

I chose this image for :jennystokes-favs: because.
It's simple thoughtful and acknowledges that Winter is long and loney for people in some parts of the world.
The green colour is fabulous but murky making us know Spring has not quite arrived.
The woman has an old fork and a few flowers and seems to be wondering what to do them..........if we eat these will they be OK?
HUNDREDS of questions in this glorious artwork. Is she alone/is he happy/is she sad. Will eventual Spring make her wear a different colour.
Imagination and an image which tells us a story.
Very well done.
