Let's begin with the vision, which a paradoxe since Blindeness baptized the composition. Her dress and overall allure make reference to some Victorian era I think, where womens were rarely appreciated has they should be since it was a strict and conservative society back then and back there. So, blindness? The first interpretation would be to advance that the girl was not born blind and that she's evidently suffering greatly from that cruel metamorphosis. The blood, eyes, fingers and throat are a expression of that, right? The butterfly represent also change and transformation, remember that.

So what's the cause of that terrible fate? Since you are clever, you immediately think that their is something about the black crown she's wearing, right? A black and torny crown violently snatching her eyes. Did someone put the artefact on her head or she's grievously wearing it by choice? The artefact seem to be a elongation of her head has if it was a materialization of her own state of mind don't you think?

She's blind, she's suffering and it's a situation that emanate from herself. Clearly, it's a representation of her soul in pain. There's also blood on her lips and that ecarlate hand over her throat indicate emotional pain, just like the shadow gift of love, pain. And she seems to be bearing that pain in silence, maybe unable to name it or to get away from it. Great vision and potent originality.

The technique replicate a dream like pattern or more accurately that she's in a foggy situation, a doubtful situation. Just black and white colors tend to accentuate the idea of opposition and division. Oh hey, where exactly is that butterfly by the way?

For the impact, I think it's packing a lot! It's moving, strange and somehow a pure expression of suffering.
